Winged Warfare eBook William Avery Bishop
Bishop's dubious, self-serving account of his service in the war, most of which was unverified. It was a jolly good time fighting with nary a mention of the near genocide of pilots, as per the expected attitude of the day. Almost every account of this genre more or less follows the same attitude. Mannock's account is typical. Good show and all that, but we know from other sources that he was a physical and emotional PTSD wreck at the time of his death. Again, an enormous amount of lying by omission, sanitized account was expected by the writer, piblisher, and readers in that era. Winged Victory, Yeats, a fictionalized account of the author's service in the RFC, stands out head and shoulders over the rest. That being said, Bishop is a lively story teller and one may discern a great deal about what flying was like, camp, tactics and strategies. If Bishop, as alledged, took great liberties in claiming victories, he's managed to make a reasonably decent tale of it.

Winged Warfare eBook William Avery Bishop Reviews
A somewhat fascinating biography. The style is not what a modern reader would expect but still a good read, especially if you enjoy WWI history.
I think this is one of the best, most interesting books on MAJ Bishop I have ever read. It had just enough detail to maintain a high level of interest. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in air combat during the early years.
It is always a treat to read an autobiography of a famous warrior. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and it added to my knowledge of the Great War.
The author failed to give changes in types of aircraft he flew or was flown by the Germans. It was as if he threw together a few memories of air combat hurriedly to get a book out quickly.
A very interesting account of a world war I flier from Canada that achieves one of the highest scores of aerial victories in that conflict. Gives the reader a real idea of the daily trials and tribulations of a combat pilot during World war I .
This book is an interesting trip into air combat in WWl aircraft. The author's actions during combat missions shows his apparent joy of flying. His exceptional tally of 40+ air victories contains many exciting portrayals of air combat. His extraordinary amount of luck contributes to his high score. There are sober moments, but all in all, in contrast to the usually grim side of war, this story is on the lighter side. Very good read !
What an excellent personal account from Billy Bishop of his heroics in WWI! The lad was an extraordinary pilot who developed the very best tactics flying against German counterparts who were as eager as he to score a victory. He was absolutely fearless. Although he put himself in some very bad situations, he somehow managed to squeak through unscathed. His aggression is probably what saw him through the worst of times and his humility is probably what kept him sane. An epic autobiography of WWI aviation.
