Rogues Rakes Jewels edition by Claudy Conn Karen Babcock Romance eBooks
This is another story of a feisty heroine who is trying to bring the family's fortune back to rights. Her parents have died and she and her brother are hoping to race a horse and make a fortune. The hero has been sent by his mother to look the girl over as a potential wife. He takes his cousin along and the two exchange identities. The hero figures the girl is only out for a title and money so she will throw herself at whichever man appears to have the title. I really found the dim cousin rather entertaining and wish there had been more of him. He was more interesting than the main characters to me.
There is a villain who tries to bully the heroine into marriage with financial threats. The heroine is unbelievably gorgeous and a bit of a hoyden -- but a sexy one. The hero is also unbelievably gorgeous and a bit of a rake. If course he declares at the very beginning of the story he isn't ready to marry, and of course he changes his mind the moment he sees her.
The heroine has the plan to pretend to be a French girl dealing cards at a local gambling den in order to raise money. She gets mad when the hero flirts with her. Of course he recognizes her. She is supposed to be so smart and she doesn't know he recognizes her?
There are a few sexual situations that I didn't find all that sensual.
Frankly I found the story dull and thin. This is not one you will keep to read again.

Rogues Rakes Jewels edition by Claudy Conn Karen Babcock Romance eBooks Reviews
Not a great read by any means. Although the premise had potential, the storyline had little intrigue, the relationships were too contrived and for me, it became a rush to get to the end of the book. I, who am often way too prolific, can think of nothing that stood out in this book except to say the author didn't make good use of her characters as set up from the beginning of the book. It could have been a great read - especially when one considers every single character in the story had truly great potential to have very interesting intertwined relationships with one another - instead, it simply became a shallow read.
Ryker is the Marquis of Lindhurst and is looking for someone to love him not for his money, but for who he is. Jewels is a strong minded woman who is caught in the middle and posses as a French card dealer in order to repay her family's debt. What they don't expect is to fall in love with each other. The attraction between these two characters is undeniable yet their secrets prevent them revealing their true identities. Will the cards come tumbling down when they both realize that deception is not to be played in the game of love?
I absolutely loved this book. Claudy Conn never disappoints me. Each book I read is better than the last. She is my go to author and never have to worry if the book is worthy of purchasing. Every single one one of her books are amazing. So glad that this books was free. I have downloaded all of Claudy's free books and purchased all her others. Pick up any of Claudy Conn's books. You will not be sorry.
Let me try to say something about this book that I haven't already said about all of the other books Claudy has. She is so consistent in delivering hits.
First I just gotta say I adore Claudy's book titles. They are very catchy )
Her regency romance's are superb. She belongs at the top in this genre.
In Rogues, Rakes, and Jewels we get a unique story line. I laughed to myself and then thought "How does Claudy come up with all of these ideas?" This story was sexy and fun.
Ryker of Lyndhurst is a handsome lord. He doesn't want his mother interfering and trying to set him up with someone. He believes he is not ready to get married. So Ryker and his cousin decide to pull a sly joke on the Henshaw family. But once Ryker gets to the Henshaw's he quickly realizes that he made the wrong decision and now he is stuck with Jewels believing he is someone else.
Jewels is a beautiful blonde, green eyed beauty. She has a lot of responsibility since her parents died. When the Lord Of Lyndhurst and his cousin visit she starts to feel things she has never felt before. She is afraid if she opens up to Ryker he find out her secrets and leave her.
I was hooked from the very beginning. I couldn't wait to see what would happen next. I loved the family bond Jewel's and her brother Jimmy had. Jimmy was such a great brother. I would love to read about Lizzie and Ben's relationship. Claudy always gives her secondary characters enough room to shine making them fun to read about.
Favorite sentences "Spoiler Alert"
"Could I look into those bright green eyes of yours and not know the woman I love...?"
"Jewels saw him, standing like the knight in shining armor she had always dreamt would come for her. He filled the doorway, faith, she thought, he filled the room! He was a mountain of volcanic fury"
Fun characters and plot line!
